The stones: The Amethyst
Published the 29.03.2019The stones: The Amethyst
Amethyst is a violet variety of quartz and is one of the most used gems for jewellery making.
Until the seventeenth century it was included in the list of cardinal gemstones, it was associated with Diamonds, Emeralds, Rubies, Sapphires. The discovery, however, of one of the most immense deposits of Amethyst, exactly in Brazil, has recently caused it to be cut from the list, becoming a semi-precious stone. Of course, this fact has only made the price of the stone more accessible to all, it has not altered the beauty and the properties of the stone itself.
The Amethyst has a very intense purple colour, which can fade towards lighter tones, but which are always very lively.
A mythological legend tells that Amethyst was a nymph of the woods. Bacchus, the god of wine, invaded her. The girl, to escape the unwelcome courtship, turned to Diana, the goddess of hunting, who decided to help her by transforming her into a crystal clear. When Bacchus realized this, not liking it, he poured his glass filled cup over the crystal, thus giving it its violet colour. And therefore, the Amethyst is particularly suited to protecting the wearer from the intoxicating effects of wine.
The properties of the Amethyst are varied. Perhaps the best known is the ability to keep nightmares away and help to have a peaceful and restful sleep, replacing nightmares with magnificent dreams. To achieve this effect, it is advisable to keep it in the bedroom.
It is also particularly useful for increasing self-esteem, strengthening will, memory and self-control as it calmly and effectively reassures it.
It also helps to treat and dissolve nervous headaches and eye diseases. If you put an amethyst in the face cream, it acquires anti-acne qualities.
If inserted in an environment, it rebalances the negative energies eventually brought by the entrance of strangers or guests. Therefore, absolutely indicated in every room of the house.
Of course, what we prefer about this beautiful gem is the beauty it gives on a jewel, be it a necklace, a bracelet, an earring or anything else.
